uaCSTA connection

What is a uaCSTA Connection?

uaCSTA stands for User Agent Computer Supported Telecommunications Applications. It is a standardized protocol that creates a communication link between a software application on a user's computer (the User Agent) and a telephone system's control server.

In essence, a uaCSTA connection is a core technology for Computer Telephony Integration (CTI). It is what allows your desktop applications to "talk to" and control your phone system.

This integration is the driving force behind many powerful productivity features, including:

  • Click-to-Dial: Allowing you to initiate a call by clicking a phone number in a CRM, email, or website.
  • Screen Pops: Automatically displaying a caller's contact record on your computer screen when a call comes in.
  • Call Control: Enabling you to answer, transfer, and manage calls directly from a software application rather than your physical phone.
